iC4-ARC In-Ceiling Speaker
Single Unit
The iC4-ARC is NHT's super-premium 8" woofer in-ceiling speaker. Apart from the 8" woofer, it is exactly the same as the ic3-ARC.
Sold as single units rather than speaker pairs, iC4-ARC in-ceiling speakers are ideally used in premium home theaters and certainly in concert with NHT's premium Classic Line of in-room speakers. iC4-ARCs can also be used in any situation where the very best sound reproduction is desired with almost no physical presence in the room. Weather and moisture resistant materials make the iC4-ARC suitable for outdoor eves, covered patios, and master bathrooms as well. Like all the products in the Architect In Ceiling series, the iC4-ARC features NHT's new micro-perforated, bezel-less grill that attaches magnetically and reduces the installed footprint by almost 15% over its predecessor.
Don't forget the companion iCB8 pre-construction bracket (sold individually). Note: this bracket IS NOT used for retrofit application (existing structures).

iC4-ARC In-Ceiling Speaker
Amazing!
I bought 4 of these about 2 weeks ago to install in the ceiling for my home theater for the .4 in a 7.2.4 home theater build. It took me a while to figure out how the plunger screw thing worked - I thought I was doing something wrong. But you have to turn left, then right and plunger will easily tighten down. I didn't know this and was applying the force of superman to crank down the plunger. After about the 3rd install I realized the trick. 2 were installed in a drop ceiling and the other 2 where installed in a drywall ceiling. Templates provided made for easy cutting of holes. The sound from them is just simply amazing and work really well with the rest of my NHT setup. I was amazed at how big they are. I'll post some pictures shortly of the install - but here are some of the speaker itself.

New Home = New Sounds
Purchased these while having a home built in Tucson. Flew our installer (family friend) down from Portland and had 5 ic4s in main room and 6 ic3s throughout other areas of the house. We are blown away by the quality of sound! The focus is on music and there is full range coverage from classical to metal. Movie and TV reproduction is amazing, there have been times that looked behind me to see if someone was in the room when it was the rear tracks having so much presence. Have listened to a few concert videos and these sound true to life. Definitely buy these speakers.

Just buy them
In the late 90's I enjoyed the sublime imaging of a full 5.1 NHT system (I forget the model now, but they were angled inward with side firing drivers). Along the way, I got married, sacrificed my treasured NHT system for a more wife friendly tiny Bose 5.1 system, then had kids and moved to a Yamaha DSP, and now I've even discarded that and am just listening to TV speakers (*shudder*). Great audio lost its priority, mostly because I'm at the age where "who has time for TV and music" - I'm either listening with headphones on a plane or in front of my computer.
Several years ago I decided that I wanted NHT in walls and ceilings throughout the house. Although my memory of the good old days with NHT was hazy, I knew they were among the best speakers I ever heard. After years of procrastination, today iC4's were installed on my patio. The verdict? I didn't know how much I was suffering over the past 15 years until today. Within 10 seconds of hearing them, my reaction was just "Wow". Tight bass. unbelievable detail. Holographic imaging. The sound fills my entire yard / pool area from just two iC4's under my covered patio. Two iC4's replaced Sonos speakers on the patio and there is simply no comparison (although the iC4's are powered by a Sonos Connect Amp). It's an unfair comparison I guess, but bass, mids, highs, and detail are across the board far far better than the Play:5's. If I had to pick one nit, I'll say the grill could be more flush with the ceiling (the bezel sticks out about 1/8") but my wife commented "you don't even see them" so I think that's a pass.
Next step is to add iW4's for my TV front and center channels, and get my iC3's installed in the kitchen and living room. The only hard decision is what to power them with.
Highly recommended. I wish I would have pulled the trigger long ago.

Wow!
I bought some NHT speakers years ago and always loved their sound quality. I can still remember listening to my favorite albums for the first time on those speakers and hearing all kinds of sounds I'd never before experienced from music I loved. These iC4 speaks are equally amazing. I can't believe how good they sound, and I wish I'd installed them long ago! I'm glad NHT is still around, and I wish the owners the best of luck as an independent business.
